Retail Tech Japan 2025: Addressing Industry Challenges

This year’s RetailTech JAPAN focused on addressing labor shortages, productivity improvements, and environmental impact reductions in the logistics industry. The event also featured the latest technologies for supply chain optimization and AI-driven retail DX.

Supply Chain Optimization
Sharing and coordinating commercial and logistics data is crucial for optimizing the entire supply chain. IoT-based management systems, cloud-based information sharing, and real-time big data analysis are essential for achieving this goal. By optimizing supply chain data, logistics can become more flexible and sustainable, addressing challenges like driver shortages and supply-demand gaps.

AI in Retail Operations and Logistics
AI technology was showcased for store operations and logistics support, including anomaly detection and efficient store management. AI can enhance store operations by visualizing sales floors and analyzing customer behavior, reducing the workload of store managers and improving operational efficiency. AI-driven demand forecasting can also help reduce food waste and ensure stable supply chains.

HAKO-FLO® Demonstration at Our Booth

At our booth, we showcased the HAKO-FLO® warehouse floor DX solution, focusing on its key features and benefits. The demonstration included hands-on experiences with two of its core service: HAKO-FLO® EZ-report and HAKO-FLO® EZ-SnapAir.

Designed for efficient location management and picking operations
It uses barcode scanning to track the location of goods and materials. By reading the barcode attached to the items and then scanning the barcode at the storage location, operators on the warehouse floor can easily manage the whereabouts of their inventory. The scanned data is uploaded to the cloud, allowing operators to access and verify the location of goods from anywhere at any time.

We also showcased how HAKO-FLO® EZ-report facilitates the picking process. By scanning the barcode on the goods, the system verifies the correct item in real-time, ensuring that the right products are picked and dispatched. This process significantly reduces errors and enhances operational efficiency.

For reporting damage to goods
If an item is damaged, operators on the warehouse floor can take a photo of the damage using their smartphone, add tags or notes, and upload the information to the cloud. This process ensures that all relevant parties are notified promptly, facilitating swift action and minimizing delays.

During the demonstration, attendees were able to experience firsthand how these services streamline manual processes and enhance warehouse operations. We also highlighted how HAKO-FLO® integrates with existing Warehouse Management Systems (WMS) to further optimize warehouse floor operations efficiency.
