Vol. 6 – Solving the issue of selecting the optimal outer box

The solution offered by HAKO-FLO® centers around an AR measurement function that utilizes an iPad Pro with LiDAR technology. This advanced sensing technology precisely measures the distance, direction, position, and shape of objects using laser beams, significantly improving the efficiency and accuracy of measurement work.
HAKO-FLO® provides an ability to propose the optimal outer box based on the AR measurements. By pre-loading data on available outer box sizes, the system can quickly suggest the most appropriate packaging option, enabling even inexperienced workers to proceed efficiently with their tasks. This automated approach not only streamlines the packaging process but also contributes to cost reduction by optimizing box selection and minimizing material waste.

Vol. 7, 8 – RFID Technology Overview

The basic components of an RFID system include the RFID tag, a printer or writer, and a reader. HAKO-FLO® provides a service using handheld RFID readers, but other types such as stationary, desktop, and arch-type readers are also used in the market.
RFID readers use antenna structures with specific polarization patterns to transmit and receive radio waves, which significantly affects tag reading performance. There are two main types of polarization: linear and circular.
RFID tag printers are specialized devices that can both print visible information on the surface of RFID labels and write digital information to the built-in IC chip. These printers come in various types, including stationary, metal-compatible, and mobile versions.

Vol. 9 – Technology used for Inspection and Damage Reporting

HAKO-FLO® EZ report manages and simplifies manual work using dedicated software. The system operates on an iPad Pro, allowing users to read label information, manage inspection results in the cloud, and quickly report damage with photo documentation. This cloud-based approach enables concerned parties to access information remotely without visiting the warehouse floor.
A key feature of EZ report is its AR measurement function, which utilizes LiDAR technology. This allows for contactless measurement of packing boxes and damaged areas with high accuracy.
Additionally, EZ report incorporates Apple’s Vision Framework for advanced image processing. This enables the system to detect barcodes and QR codes, read encoded label information, and extract text using optical character recognition (OCR).

Vol. 10, 11 – Deep Dive on HAKO-FLO CLOUD Service

HAKO-FLO® CLOUD Service, a digital transformation (DX) solution for logistics and warehousing operations built on Microsoft Azure. This service enhances warehouse efficiency through features like OAuth 2-based user authentication, data storage and retrieval via APIs, and web-based interfaces for data access. It supports flexible deployment across regions, including the U.S., Asia, and Europe, and allows users to customize fields, export data in CSV format, and tailor display options to their needs.
Technically, HAKO-FLO® CLOUD Service leverages Azure App Services for its core functionality, utilizing Docker containerization for efficient deployment and management. It also employs Azure Database for PostgreSQL for data storage, which provides reliability, and robust performance. The service benefits from Azure’s scalability, security features, cloud-edge integration options, and tools for data analysis.
We, TOKYO ELECTRON DEVICE as a Microsoft Cloud Distributor in Japan, providing technical support and IoT/AI services while emphasizing the advantages of Azure’s flexibility and ease of operation.

Vol. 12, 13 – HAKO-FLO CLOUD Application Scenarios

At its core, HAKO-FLO® assigns unique identification codes to objects in warehouses, which are then scanned using HAKO-FLO® applications such as RFID Query and EZ Report. This scanned information is uploaded to the HAKO-FLO® CLOUD service for centralized storage and management, enabling remote access to warehouse data and improving operational efficiency.
The service offers robust functionalities for various warehouse processes. During receiving and inspection, RFID tags and QR codes link objects with essential details like SKU codes or product names, allowing for instant processing of received items through bulk scanning. The cloud-stored data facilitates remote referencing of incoming goods, with features for grouping by product code or searching for specific items.
For stock taking, HAKO-FLO® RFID Query enables rapid inventory checks without manual counting. The cloud service tracks both inventoried and missing items, organizing them by product code or shelf location. Inventory results can be exported as CSV files for reporting purposes, enhancing data analysis and record-keeping.
In the picking and outgoing inspection process, HAKO-FLO® ensures correct items are selected for shipment by scanning against pre-created lists. Shelf location data helps locate objects efficiently within the warehouse, while shipment details, including destination codes, are recorded in the cloud for tracking and reporting.
HAKO-FLO® provides flexibility in data matching through Cloud Matching, where scanned data is uploaded for remote verification.
On the other hand, Device Matching, which allows offline scanning and on-the-spot verification without network connectivity.

It enables users to instantly capture and share multiple high-resolution images of warehouse inventory or damaged cargo, featuring tagging for efficient photo categorization and organization. The app’s real-time notification feature ensures that team members are promptly alerted to any cargo anomalies.
